CROSS-LEAVED HEATH PRINT SERIES

This series of prints is based on the flora of the blanket bogs of Ireland, and specifically the Cross-leaved Heath heather, Erica tetralix.

As shown in the galley, in the summer of 2024 we had a holiday on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula in County Cork. Jenny and I spent hours on the hills around Fionn mac Cumhaill’s Seat, exploring the flowers: orchids; the Bog Asphodel, Ling Heather, Bell Heather, Cross-Leaved Heath; Bog Cotton and more.

The print series is based on the bell shaped flowers of the Cross-leaved Heath, and in some of the prints the chacteristic leaves are featured. The colour palette of the main series is inspired by the wider flora (as listed above).
